The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Third Judicial Department is seeking applicants for a LAN Administrator position in its Technical Services Unit in Albany, NY. Assignment — What You’ll Be Doing

This role requires a highly organized, self-motivated individual with strong attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills. The position serves the Appellate Division, Third Department Technical Services Unit in Albany.

Technical support & infrastructure
  • Provide multi-level technical support for hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, telecommunications equipment, user accounts, and network connectivity
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, peripherals, operating systems, court software, and network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, servers, storage, and security devices
  • Maintain accurate district-wide inventory and asset tracking
Court systems & applications
  • Support a wide range of internal and public-facing applications including e-filing systems, public access/search tools, web portals, case management systems, communication platforms, and other web-based resources
  • Perform user administration, security configuration, documentation, and reporting
  • Evaluate technology needs and recommend improvements; contribute to policy development
Courtroom AV & webcast support
  • Provide courtroom and user audio/visual support including setup, troubleshooting, video conferencing, streaming, recording, and video production
  • Webcast of Court proceedings — operate streaming and broadcast systems
Leadership & projects
  • Participate in department-wide technology initiatives
  • Offer guidance to junior staff
  • Travel required — a valid New York State driver’s license is necessary
Accepted Certifications

For the LAN Administrator and Senior LAN Administrator titles, certification in Network Administration is required within 18 months of appointment. Acceptable certifications include:

  • MCSA — Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate
  • Any Microsoft Administrator Certification (Administrator – Learn | Microsoft Docs)
  • An equivalent credential in Network Administration
